Report Offers Update On Tom Holland’s Marvel Future
Marvel Studios’ plans for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man are in a bit of a gray area following his efforts with Sony Pictures on Spider-Man: No Coming Home. Holland’s first trilogy ended on an absolute smash, grossing nearly $2 billion at the worldwide box office (to date), though that movie ended part of the web’s MCU journey for now. -slinger.
Under his current deal, Holland is currently slated for another team-up movie in the MCU, but no more Spider-Man movies after that. No coming home concluded with him swinging through the snowy night in his new costume with the world completely oblivious to Peter Parker’s existence.
That’s not to say the MCU is done with the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – far from it, actually, because Spiderman 4 is already confirmed to be in the early stages of development.
Sony is still working hard to build its own universe of Spidey characters with movies like Kraven the hunter and Madame Web, but Holland’s MCU franchise remains the team’s most successful effort yet. Even with those plans in place, the most recent news regarding Spidey’s big-screen future indicates that he’s not set in stone as much as fans might expect.
Tom Holland’s future for Spider-Man 4
The Ankler’s Jeff Sneider has shared an update on Tom Holland’s future role in Spider-Man in the MCU, which is set to continue with a fourth solo Spider Man film.
Even though plans are in place for more MCU Holland-led Spidey movies, Sneider “[doesn’t] think he signed a deal again” with Marvel or Sony to continue in the role. This will likely remain a high priority for Sony Pictures as the company looks to move the franchise forward, particularly with plans for more Spider-Man movies that are still unofficial at this time:
“Okay, so Sony might not have the biggest bench in terms of franchises, but it wisely struck a deal with Marvel Studios to bring its flagship character Spider-Man into the MCU, which helped to make Spidey’s solo films from the studio must-haves, even And while plans are afoot for another Spidey trilogy with Tom Holland, I don’t think he’s signed a deal yet, so those plans remain unofficial for the moment. That said, I’m sure Spidey’s further adventures with Holland are a top priority for Rothman & Co., who also rely on him as an anchor for their fledgling Uncharted franchise as well.”
When will Spider-Man return to the MCU?
Sony clearly has plenty of reasons to want to strike a new deal with Tom Holland, which far exceeds the critical and financial failures of other films like Morbius. Spider-Man: No Coming Home became one of the most beloved films in MCU history, as well as the franchise’s highest-grossing solo film in a while. Without forgetting the Spider Man The trilogy earned Sony nearly $4 billion in total box office revenue.
Ultimately, this report shouldn’t be too much of a concern, as Holland has even made it clear that he wants to take some time off before donning the red and blue again for Marvel and Sony. That being said, the actor remains excited to continue the web-slinger adventures once this hiatus is over, and there are countless stories for him and the team to tackle next time around.
Marvel and Sony delivered the MCUs Spider Man trilogy over a four-year span, with films arriving in 2017, 2019, and 2021, but it’s unclear if the studios plan to keep that same time increment for Spiderman 4the exit. However, those details work out, with Holland returning for his next tag team outing, it shouldn’t be long before the wall crawler MCU’s future is more tightly secured.
Spider-Man: No Coming Home is currently available for purchase on many digital platforms and on Blu-ray. An extended cut of the film is also set to hit theaters in the United States and Canada on September 2.
